Mommy Pai's
A Thai-American mashup from the Thai Diner team serving inventive chicken fingers, tropical slushies, and playful fast-food reinventions.

Tucked into a tiny kiosk-sized space on Mott Street in Nolita, Mommy Pai’s feels like a portal to somewhere wonderfully unexpected. The facade is decked out in neon and inspired by Thai wooden homes and roadside stalls, creating a visual clash that somehow works perfectly in this corner of downtown Manhattan. From the team behind the beloved Thai Diner, this spot finally realizes a chicken-focused concept that was over a decade in the making.
The star of the show here is the chicken—though calling them “fingers” might be underselling it. Made with juicy thigh meat instead of the usual breast, these tenders come in a variety of preparations from crispy fried to charred grilled, each with its own flavor profile. The fried spicy version delivers a satisfying chili-rubbed crust, while the grilled lemongrass option offers fruity, herbaceous notes enhanced by the char. Eight different sauces ranging from Thai hot honey to a vegan nam prik noom mean you could visit repeatedly and never have the same experience twice.
Beyond the chicken, there’s a whole universe of playful mashups to explore. The Filet O’Tofu puts a vegetarian spin on a certain golden arches classic, while curry puff mozzarella sticks add unexpected Southeast Asian flair to a bar snack staple. Wash it all down with tropical fruit slushies—the pineapple Thai basil one hits that perfect tangy-sweet spot—and finish with swirled Thai tea soft serve that demands to be photographed before consumption.
Seating is limited to a handful of street stools, making this primarily a grab-and-go operation. But that’s part of the charm. When you need a quick, casual bite in Nolita that transcends the ordinary, Mommy Pai’s delivers something genuinely unique—fast food from another dimension that rewards the adventurous eater.
