How to Make the Best Wild Rice Recipe

Wild rice is a nutrient-dense, gluten-free grain that adds a wonderful chewy texture and nutty flavor to any meal. Unlike white or brown rice, wild rice is actually the seed of an aquatic grass native to North America, making it a unique and wholesome addition to your kitchen repertoire.

This versatile recipe gives you two foolproof methods for cooking perfect wild rice every time. The stovetop method is traditional and hands-off, while the Instant Pot method is faster and requires even less attention. Either way, you’ll end up with beautifully tender grains that are perfect as a side dish or as a base for salads, soups, and casseroles.

Serve your wild rice alongside roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or sautéed vegetables for a satisfying and nutritious meal. You can also mix it with herbs, dried cranberries, and toasted pecans for a festive holiday side dish that’s sure to impress.
