Ingredients
Salmon
Miso Marinade
Instructions
Prepare the Salmon
- Whisk the marinade ingredients until smooth in a small bowl. Brush the skin side with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Brush the marinade liberally over the flesh side of salmon, saving the rest for basting while grilling.
- Alternatively, if using a rub, brush all sides with olive oil, season the skin side with salt, and sprinkle the flesh side with the rub.
Grill the Salmon
- Preheat the grill to medium heat (325F-350F). Add wood chips if using.
- Carefully place the whole salmon over the grill, skin side down. Feel free to add grillable veggies. Cover for 5 minutes and check.
- If using a whole fillet, do not flip, just continue cooking covered until the internal temp at the thickest part reaches 125-130F (Medium). Timing will depend on thickness. Inside should be flakey, with a slight translucency in the middle.
- Remove the salmon fillet using 2 metal spatulas, place it on a platter and serve immediately. Garnish with chives and sesame seeds.
Notes
- For best results, let the salmon marinate for at least 30 minutes before grilling.
- The internal temperature will continue to rise a few degrees after removing from the grill.
- This miso marinade also works great for baking salmon in the oven at 400F for 12-15 minutes.
