How to Make the Best Matcha Smoothie

If you’re looking for a healthy way to start your day with a boost of energy, this matcha smoothie is exactly what you need. Packed with antioxidant-rich matcha green tea, tropical pineapple, creamy banana, and nutrient-dense spinach or kale, it’s a vibrant drink that tastes as good as it looks.

Matcha is known for providing calm, sustained energy without the jitters that coffee can sometimes cause. Combined with the natural sweetness of pineapple and banana, you get a smoothie that’s both energizing and satisfying. The squeeze of lemon brightens up all the flavors and helps mask any bitterness from the greens.

This smoothie comes together in just 10 minutes and makes two generous servings—perfect for sharing or saving one for later. Whether you’re new to matcha or already a fan, this tropical twist on a green smoothie is sure to become a favorite in your morning routine.

Instructions

Make the Smoothie

  1. Cut the pineapple and banana into chunks, and gather the smoothie ingredients.
  2. Place all the smoothie ingredients in the blender, starting conservatively with the matcha powder. Matcha is bitter, and if you are not used to it, it can be an acquired taste. Start light and add more to taste.
  3. Blend until very smooth.
  4. Taste and add more matcha powder if you like. If the flavor tastes bitter, you can add a little honey or maple syrup to balance this out.
  5. Blend in a few ice cubes to make this extra cold and thick!
  6. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

Notes

  • Start with less matcha powder and add more to taste—it can be bitter if you're not used to it.
  • Using a frozen banana makes the smoothie extra thick and creamy without needing as much ice.
  • Add honey or maple syrup if the matcha flavor is too bitter for your taste.
