Whether you’re hosting a party, looking for a game-day snack, or just craving something fresh and flavorful, these recipes have you covered with options ranging from traditional Mexican to globally-inspired twists.

The Traditional Mexican Guacamole delivers all the classic flavors you know and love—creamy avocado, bright lime, fresh cilantro, and just the right amount of heat from jalapeno. The Furikake Guacamole brings an Asian-inspired twist with ginger, soy sauce, and that irresistible umami crunch from Furikake seasoning. And the Middle Eastern version with zaatar-inspired flavors of sumac, cumin, and optional tahini creates a uniquely savory and aromatic experience.

Each version takes just 20 minutes to prepare and serves 8, making them perfect for entertaining. Try all three at your next gathering and let your guests vote on their favorite—or better yet, make all three and enjoy a guacamole tasting flight!

Ingredients

Traditional Mexican Guacamole

Furikake Guacamole

Middle Eastern Guacamole (Zaatar)

Instructions

Traditional Mexican Guacamole

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado to your desired consistency—chunky or smooth.
  3. Add the finely chopped onion, jalapeno, and cilantro to the bowl.
  4. Season with salt, coriander, cumin, and a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes.
  5. Squeeze in the juice of one lime and mix everything together.
  6. If using tomato, fold it in gently at the end. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

Furikake Guacamole

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado to your desired consistency.
  3. Add the finely chopped scallions and fresh ginger.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and salt.
  5. Add the chili flakes and mix well.
  6. Top with Furikake seasoning just before serving for the best texture.

Middle Eastern Guacamole (Zaatar)

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado to your desired consistency.
  3. Add the minced garlic, finely chopped onion, and Italian parsley.
  4. Season with salt, coriander, cumin, and sumac.
  5. If using tahini, drizzle it in and mix to combine.
  6. Add the lemon zest and juice, then stir everything together. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

Notes

  • For best results, use perfectly ripe avocados—they should yield to gentle pressure but not be mushy.
  • Each variation pairs well with different chips or breads: traditional with tortilla chips, Furikake with wonton crisps, and Middle Eastern with warm pita.
  • Guacamole is best served fresh, but pressing plastic wrap directly onto the surface can help prevent browning if storing briefly.
