How to Make the Best Easy Tahini Sauce
Tahini sauce is one of the most versatile condiments in Middle Eastern cuisine, and once you learn how to make it at home, you’ll find yourself drizzling it on everything. This easy tahini sauce comes together in just 10 minutes with simple pantry staples, delivering that signature creamy, nutty, and tangy flavor that elevates any dish.
The secret to a perfect tahini sauce is all in the technique. Tahini paste can be finicky—it often seizes up when you first add liquid—but don’t worry, just keep whisking and it will transform into a silky smooth sauce. The balance of lemon juice and garlic gives it that bright, savory punch that makes tahini sauce so addictive.
Use this sauce generously over falafel, shawarma, roasted vegetables, grain bowls, or as a dip for warm pita bread. It’s naturally vegan and gluten-free, making it perfect for accommodating different dietary needs without sacrificing flavor.

Instructions
Making the Sauce
- If your tahini paste has separated, stir it in the jar with a fork before measuring. If it's very cold, bring it to room temp to make stirring easier.
- Place tahini paste and water in a 2-cup mason jar or medium bowl and whisk until smooth. Once you start whisking, it may actually stiffen up - you can always thin it out with more water at the end if using as a dressing.
- Add the remaining ingredients to the jar - lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, pepper and whisk until creamy and smooth.
- Taste and adjust salt and lemon to your liking.
- Store in the fridge for 5-7 days - it will thicken up slightly.
Notes
- Use room temperature tahini for easier mixing.
- The sauce will thicken as it sits, so add a splash of water when ready to serve if needed.
- For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of cumin, fresh herbs like parsley, or a drizzle of honey.
- This sauce is naturally vegan and gluten-free.
