How to Make the Best Basil Oil Recipe
Fresh basil oil is one of those simple yet transformative condiments that every home cook should have in their repertoire. This vibrant green oil captures the essence of summer basil and turns it into a versatile sauce that can elevate everything from pasta and pizza to grilled vegetables and crusty bread.
What makes this basil oil special is its simplicity—just a handful of fresh basil leaves, quality olive oil, a touch of garlic, and bright lemon juice come together in minutes. Unlike traditional pesto, this lighter oil-based version lets the pure flavor of basil shine through without the heaviness of nuts or cheese, making it perfect for drizzling over dishes where you want that fresh herb brightness.
Keep a jar of this basil oil in your refrigerator and you’ll find yourself reaching for it constantly. Toss it with hot pasta, spoon it over grilled chicken or fish, use it as a dipping sauce for bread, or drizzle it over fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. It’s the kind of simple kitchen staple that makes everyday cooking feel just a little more special.
