Baked Chicken Wings Recipe
Baked Chicken Wings with Smoky Chipotle Rub and Creamy Cilantro Dipping Sauce. A fast and healthy approach to chicken wings, packed full of deep smoky flavor!

How to Make the Best Baked Chicken Wings
These baked chicken wings are the perfect game day snack or party appetizer that won’t leave you feeling guilty. By baking instead of frying, you get all the crispy, flavorful goodness you crave with far less oil. The smoky chipotle rub gives these wings an incredible depth of flavor that’s both sweet and spicy.
What really sets these wings apart is the creamy cilantro dipping sauce. It’s cool, tangy, and bright—the perfect counterbalance to the smoky heat of the wings. Made with fresh cilantro, a touch of jalapeno, and lime zest, this sauce comes together in minutes in a food processor.
The secret to getting crispy baked wings is using a wire rack over your baking sheet. This allows hot air to circulate around the entire wing, crisping up the skin evenly without any flipping hassle. At 425°F, the wings render their fat and get beautifully golden while staying juicy inside.

Instructions
Prepare the Wings
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Place salt, sugar and spices in a medium bowl and mix.
- Toss each wing in the spices, coating all sides, and place them on a wire rack placed inside a foil-lined baking sheet.
Bake the Wings
- When oven is hot, roast wings 20 minutes, turn over, and bake 10 more minutes, or until done (165°F internal temperature).
- For extra crispy skin, turn over again and broil for a couple minutes, being careful not to burn.
Make the Dipping Sauce
- While chicken is roasting, place all ingredients for the dipping sauce in a food processor and pulse until smooth.
- Place in a bowl and serve on the side.
Notes
- Using a wire rack allows air to circulate around the wings, making them crispy on all sides.
- The dipping sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- Adjust the chipotle powder to your heat preference—use less for milder wings or more for extra spice.
