Spiced nuts are the ultimate party appetizer—crispy, crunchy, and bursting with warm flavors that keep guests coming back for more. This easy recipe combines a variety of nuts and seeds with just a touch of maple syrup and a perfect blend of spices including cinnamon, cumin, and cayenne for that irresistible sweet-and-spicy kick.

What makes these nuts so versatile is that they work for virtually any occasion. Serve them at holiday gatherings, bring them to office parties, set them out at brunches, or enjoy them as a satisfying snack on your own. The recipe is incredibly flexible—feel free to use your favorite nuts and seeds, or adjust the spice blend to suit your taste preferences. You can dial up the heat with more cayenne, or go milder if you prefer.

Preparation and Cooking

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (a toaster oven works here too).
  2. In a small bowl, toss the nuts/seeds with the maple syrup, enough to coat well, and mix in the salt and spices.
  3. Spread out on a parchment-lined sheet pan and bake 13-15 minutes, stirring halfway through. You want to get them toasted and generously golden so the maple syrup hardens after cooling.
  4. Remove from heat, and immediately fluff with a fork. Let them cool completely.
  5. Once cooled they should be brittle enough to break apart. If they are soft, tacky or sticky, they needed longer in the oven—feel free to put them back in the oven and bake a little longer.
